Jasmin was diagnosed with Hypoplastic left heart syndrome the day after she was born. She was then airlifted to Nicklaus children’s hospital where she had her first open heart surgery at just 7 days old and weighing less than 5lbs. She coded her first week home, and two more times in the hospital. She had many rough nights, and despite the odds, fought on to have 2 more open heart surgeries, a few heart caths and dozens of other procedures. Although she has completed the 3 open heart surgeries for her heart the Norwood, Glenn and Fontan, her heart is not “fixed”.

Jasmin is only 6 and has had to endure so much. Her heart condition and asthma causes her to not be able to handled common colds and viruses well, so we are constantly rushing her to the ER, where she is then airlifted to Miami.

Currently, we have lost count of how many admissions and helicopter rides she’s had. Despite it all, she manages to always be the light to any room. She loves to be the life of the party and brings so much happiness and hope to so many.

Jasmin will have a long road ahead of her, and we don’t fully know what the future holds for hypoplastic left heart syndrome patients. We do know that Jasmin is going to live a full life of happiness. We strive to make everyday a adventure and try to pack our lives with as much family time as possible. She loves to travel and make new friends everywhere she goes.
