Sabastian S.

Sabastian S is a teen stuck in the brain of a two year old. When he was two years old battling cancer, Sabastian suffered a stroke causing brain damage and putting him a coma for 3 weeks. According to Sabastian’s dad, “We were told our son was going to be in a vegetative state for the rest of his life but Sabastian is a fighter and defeated the odds.

He woke up on Fathers Day and has a long hard road ahead of him. He has had to learn the basics such as eating, walking with seizures a daily occurrence. After months of treatment Sabastian relapsed. On his optic nerve there was a cluster of white blood cells in his retina. The doctors informed us he needed 18 rounds of cranial radiation to his already damaged brain, plus 2 1/2 more years of chemotherapy.

The damage continues to this day. He is just 2 years old inside and lives a very isolated life due to extreme anxiety, non-verbal, PTSD, Grand Mal seizures, and he is very prone to infection. He is unable to attend school.

Cancer took so much from our son but we are so grateful to Chasin A Dream for all of the assistance throughout the years they have given our family. Most recently we received the gift of a service animal for Sabastian. Stormy has been trained to detect seizures, to place himself in Sabastian’s path to break his fall during a seizure, and to provide comfort. Stormy is a blessing to the entire family.”
