We, at Chasin A Dream Foundation, are so excited with the positive feedback from our Hospital Backpack Program. When a family is given the news that their child has a life threatening illness and they need to go to the hospital immediately, packing a few comfort items for their child is the last thing on their mind.
We are providing a backpack complete with a warm fuzzy blanket, pillow, diffuser & oils like peppermint and lavender, socks, toiletries, age appropriate toys, a journal to document upcoming appointments for the parent, masks, gloves, etc.
For every child initially admitted with cancer, cystic fibrosis or other life threatening illnesses or disability, we will be adding an iPad to help them through the long hours of hospitalization and treatment. Just imagine being a child and having to remain still for hours on end while undergoing treatments. The iPad provides much needed distraction and comfort to all age groups, whether toddlers or teens.
Currently the program is launched at Palm Beach Childrens Hospital, Jupiter Medical Center, Palms West and Traditions. With the communities support, we will be extending the program throughout Palm Beach and Martin County to all hospitals who are admitting children with life threatening illnesses.
Tallia is a friend of Lucas (who is another Chasin a dream recipient). They have known eachother since Lucas was about 5 months old. We know personally how much of a difference it makes. Lucas sat calmly in his wagon watching his tablet the other day while at the hospital. It was an escape, he would never sit still normally for that long but both him and Tallia and so many others are able to thanks to everyone with Chasin a Dream! We cant thank you enough!….Amanda Blomberg
Anthony was at his normal appointment and was surprised with an iPad and goody bag of great stuff! Thank you Lori Griffith and her great foundation Chasin A Dream. They have been very visible helping local kids with life threatening diseases. We love you for what you do for families like us. #AnthonyStrong #ChasinADream #Localshelpinglocals….Howard Richards
